How mobility people do their hair sitting in a str How mobility people do their hair sitting in a straddle position bc why not multitask a little 😅.
Okay but for real- I’ve been thinking a lot about how mobility work is not just this one single habit or thing we do in the gym.
It’s a total change in perspective, behavior throughout the day, and perhaps even identity.
It’s things like what you see in this picture.
☑️Seeking out different challenging positions.
☑️Exploring movement in your body & seeing what it feels like.
☑️Not avoiding positions or movements that feel sticky- but leaning into them.
☑️ Becoming the weirdo doing CARs at a gas station.
☑️ Subconsciously doing wrist CARs at lunch catching up with a friend.
☑️Daring to do things differently than what you see in traditional fitness.
When your mobility sucks, doing things feels shitty.
😔And when things don’t feel great, we avoid them.
BUT when we’re aware that we can change how things feel, seek out ways to do so, and are armed with the tools to make those changes, things begin to suck less.
🤸🏻‍♀️And the less they suck, the more we can explore.
And most importantly- the more we WANT to explore.
🔄It’s a vicious cycle one way or the other.
“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.” -James Clear
While this is a bit extreme, the sentiment is very applicable.
Mobility work & joint health are a culmination of things beyond the gym- things like sitting in a weird position to do your hair for 20 minutes.
✅It’s votes- small & large- towards the person ya wanna be whenever and however you can.
And if ya need help in figuring out what that can look like, we’re just over 1 week until my Kickstart Your Mobility Training Masterclass.

Any other “mobility weirdo” things you do that you’d add to the list 🤣?!
I've been bard at work on updates since January an I've been bard at work on updates since January and I am excited to finally share how we’re upgrading the Mobility Membership (far beyond just a name change)!
My Kinstretch with Dr. Jen Membership began as a way to get more people interested in mobility work, learn about their bodies, and work on mobility in a more accessible way than just 1:1.
🤓I made it for the self-learner, the person who enjoys exploring movement and nerding out a little about the why. (You perhaps 😉).
Over the past 3 years, it's done exactly that!
AND last year, I started to feel restless about the membership. Like it was missing something or felt off, but I wasn't sure what.
I finally realized it was just not in alignment with my approach. While fitness classes can be a great way to keep things interesting and learn a little, they aren't a great place to actually get results.
I was also getting requests for more guidance on programming or choosing which classes to do, how often, etc. from members.
✨This right here is my solution- a name change, an upgrade, additional resources, & new programs to follow!
🗓️I can't wait to share all the updates- which will go live on APRIL 1st to everyone in the membership.
🚀If you're curious about the membership or mobility training in general, I've decided to record one of the membership resources- the Kickstart Your Mobility Training Masterclass- LIVE and accessible to anyone who signs up for it.
Head to the link in my bio and come join or watch the class later.
And drop me a comment on which body part you need to work on improving your mobility with the most 👇!

So you’ve been practicing segmenting your spine So you’ve been practicing segmenting your spine for a while and you’re like what’s next?
🤔Maybe you’ve seen people like myself do some heavy ass Jefferson curls and wondering if you should do those?
🛑There’s a LARGE jump in tissue demands between those 2 options.
And if we jump into the fancy fun heavy exercises without preparing our bodies, we’re creating the perfect recipe for an injury to pop up 🤕.
While this progressiom still very unloaded, this is often one of my next steps in helping clients connect to their spines better.
Having better awareness = more control = more ability to direct where load goes.
Then we can add load from there📈.
(And often we continue this type of work while adding load).
✅Consider giving these a try.
✅✅Build a better connection to & more endurance of your low back.
I mean when’s the last time you had a low back or spine day in the gym?!? 😉

Things DO slow down a bit as we get older. We may Things DO slow down a bit as we get older.
We may lose some muscle mass.
Our strength May decrease a bit.
AND a lot of the changes with age that we see can be attenuated with effort & specific training (ie EXERCISE).
🤔Why would our joint mobility be any different?
Want to know how I can be so confident about that?
👉 Because no one who has ever told me “it’s hell to get old” or “just wait until you hit __ age” or anything similar has actually worked diligently & specifically on training mobility like we do other parts of fitness.
Maybe I’m naive or extremely optimistic. But what’s the alternative?
Not even try?!
✋No thanks.
I’ll be over here doing my CARs, loading my spine, & getting my PAILs/RAILs in for as long as a physically can.
I don’t believe we need to accept pain, stiffness, and having to micromanage our movements with age just because we’re older.
Who’s with me??! 🙋🏻‍♀️
